Kate Hyman's professional path was not always towards education, but she found herself drawn to careers where she got to reach people on a personal level. Kate's early career was in music--graduating from Boston University's College of Fine Arts with a degree in Vocal Performance. She found communicating with audiences and tending to musical texts rewarding, but wanted to close the gap. For seven years, Kate worked in event planning and culture at several tech startups in NYC, coordinating engaging programming to educate and entertain. A colleague suggested Kate apply for the NYC Teaching Fellows, and the rest, they say, is history. 

Kate is excited to personalize the learning process for each of her students, to develop and celebrate their strengths and to thoughtfully, intentionally and kindly address areas of need.
