AFSE Weekly Family & Students Priorities: 10/15 - 10/19

Action Item #1 (9th Grade): Princeton-Blairstown Center 

We are excited to have all of the Freshman class on the overnight trip to Princeton-Blairstown Center. Thank you to everyone who has already returned the completed permission slip. If your student has not yet brought in the completed permission slip, be sure to have him/her bring it in on Monday! Attached please find a PDF version of the permission slip, in case you need to print a new copy.

The following is a recommended packing list for the trip as many of the activities take place in the outdoors: 

Clothing: Winter coat, hat, gloves,sneakers (1 pair), socks (4 pairs), long sleeve shirts, sweater, long pants, rain gear*, warm sleepwear
Personal Hygiene: Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, large towel, hand towel, chapstick
Bedding: Sheets/blanket, pillow, sleeping bag*
Miscellaneous: Water bottle, backpack, flip flops


The following items must be left at home because of Princeton-Blairstown policy and the nature of the activities. If brought, these items will be kept safely until the end of the trip: cell phone, hair dryer, TV, jewelry, fancy watches, large earrings, make-up, personal food, iPods/MP3 players, gaming systems, and aerosol sprays. Chaperones will check bags for any prohibited items prior to boarding the bus to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

October 18 (Thursday) - Arrive to school (40 Irving Place) no later than 7:15 AM (We will be leaving promptly at 7:30 AM). Bring appropriate clothing and equipment (Please come prepared as activities will take place rain or shine!). Bring water/snacks for the bus ride

Action Item #2: (9th - 11th Grades): Picture Day will be held on Monday, October 22. Students received an envelope with picture package details. Please be sure to provide all payment no later than Thursday, October 18.  Only students who provide payment will take individual photos but all students will take a grade picture. 
Action item #3 (12th Grade): CUNY Application Night is on Tuesday, October 16,  from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, hosted by iMentor. The College Office and iMentor will be helping students navigate the CUNY portal and submit their applications. Additional support will be available for students who need to create their college list and for students who choose to work on their FAFSA application. 
Food will be available -  we look forward to seeing your student on CUNY night. 
Action Item #4: Any parents/guardians interested in joining the SLT, please join us at our SLT Meeting on Wednesday, October 17, at 4:30 PM. Elections will be held for the 2 SLT positions available. 
Action Item #5 (All Students): Please see the AFSE Club List and Tutoring Schedule linked below. Some clubs are still finalizing their meeting schedule and will be shared as soon as they are completed.
