Mr. Raeke Bio
Shawn Raeke is the principal of the Academy of Software Engineering. He has worked exclusively in urban educational settings and is driven by a strong commitment to achieve equitable outcomes for all students. Mr. Raeke began his career in education in Richmond, California, as a substitute teacher in grades K - 12 before assuming a full-time position as a biology teacher the following year at De Anza High School in Richmond. In addition to teaching at De Anza, Mr. Raeke also served as coach for the basketball and golf programs. After four fulfilling years at De Anza, he transitioned to Oakland Technical High School in Oakland, California, where he was hired as a biology teacher and later as Assistant Principal. Prior to the role of principal in 2017, Mr. Raeke oversaw Culture & Community as Assistant Principal at AFSE prior to assuming the role of principal in 2017. Mr. Raeke earned a B.A. in biology from the University of Virginia and graduated from Plymouth North High School in Massachusetts.
