Ms. Bell's Biography

Emily Bell has her Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration from Fordham University and her Master's in Teaching at Hunter College. Emily was AFSE's first Urban Teacher Resident, now a full-time Special Education Teacher at AFSE! Emily has had a passion for working with youth since mentoring and tutoring teenagers in the Bronx at Fordham. Emily has always been interested in helping others and began her career in the non-profit realm as a Dominican Volunteer at St. Leonard's ministries in Chicago, IL where she ran a reading group and speaker series with formerly incarcerated adult residents. When she moved back to NYC, Emily continued to focus on helping others through a fundraising position at Goodwill Industries of NY & NJ supporting job training programs for individuals with disabilities. Throughout her non-profit career, Emily volunteered with youth in NYC via nycTIES, iMentor, and Drive Change which allowed her to see the importance and impact positive relationships can have on youth from every background. Emily pursued teaching to become more of a consistent role model for youth in NYC through providing quality education, building strong relationships and challenging youth to be their most successful selves. Emily is grateful to be able to work with the amazing and collaborative staff at AFSE to serve, teach, and learn from our students.
