Music Teacher / Band Director
Michael DelFino is a bassist from Brooklyn, New York who began his as a self taught musician before pursuing a Masters in Music Education from Hunter College. His practice time often focuses on music theory, composition, performance technique and music production. Mike has built an extensive repertoire in the jazz, classical and funk genres; performing and studying with great musicians such as Ryan Keberle, Lenny Pickett, Paul Carlon and Priscilla Owens. As an independent artists, Michael continues to perform and compose in the rock, jazz and funk languages in a professional setting with original projects such as Circadian Clock and Deep Pockets. Michael's career goals for the music program at AFSE are student centered and include a practical course in music theory/production for the modern musician, as well as implementing an after school performance club in affiliation with Amp Up and Little Kids Rock. In the past students have earned the opportunities to play NYC concert venues such as The Bitter End and Zone One:Elsewhere.
