Dr. Colette Young is a dedicated educational leader and innovator committed to fostering student success through inclusive practices and strategic collaboration. She joins the leadership team as Assistant Principal, bringing a wealth of experience in both administrative and classroom settings. Dr. Young previously served as a Biology Teacher at Beacon High School and taught a variety of science courses at Columbia Secondary School (CSS). During her tenure at CSS she also held the roles of Dean and Athletics Director.
In addition to her work in K-12 education, Dr. Young has served as an Assistant Director at Teachers College, Columbia University, where she oversaw graduate-level programming and contributed to the design of leadership curricula. She also supports the broader educational community through her work as an executive function consultant, providing strategic coaching to help individuals reach their fullest potential.
A passionate advocate for STEAM education and the integration of the arts into core academics, Dr. Young is an accomplished semi-professional vocalist who has performed at prestigious venues such as the Kennedy Center and the White House. She continues to share this expertise as an Adjunct Instructor in the Music and Music Education Department at Teachers College, where she has taught for over a decade. Dr. Young holds a Doctorate of Education in Interdisciplinary Studies from Teachers College, Columbia University, along with several Master’s degrees in organizational leadership, music, and biology. She is excited to bring her diverse expertise in curriculum development, diversity initiatives, and strategic planning to her new role as Assistant Principal.
