Action Item #1 (All Students): There is no school for students on Monday, November 12, for Veteran's Day.
 
Action Item #2: (All Students): PTA Screenagers Movie Showing
Don't forget to purchase your tickets for the AFSE PTA movie showing of "Screenagers. Growing Up in the Digital Age" on Wednesday, November 14! Support the AFSE PTA and see this important film about the impact of screen time on teenagers' brains. Click here to order tickets.
 
Action Item #3 (All Students): Annual Title I Parent Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 14, at 6:00 PM. All families are welcome to join us to learn about the process for being a Title I school and about the Parent Advisory Council.
 
Action Item #4 (All Students): Marking Period 1 Grades The end of the first marking period will be on November 15.  The grades for the first marking period will for Pass (P) or Fail (F).  Marking period grades do not appear on the transcript and are intended as a progress report for students.  The report card for Marking Period 1 will be available at the Parent Teacher Conferences on 11/29 and 11/30.  
 
Action Item #5: Staff Update We are thrilled to introduce a new staff member to our team.  Mr. Shah-Parvez Jamal, a science teacher, joined us on October 29, in place of Ms. Hurst, who is no longer at AFSE, and will teach both Living Environment and Physics.  Please check out his bio on the school website!  
 
Action Item #6 (10th - 12th Grade): College News! The SUNY application iMentor night will be on Tuesday, November 13, from 5:30pm - 7:50pm. Families are welcome to join their student for this event, but it is not mandatory for parents to attend. 
 
In addition, 10th, 11th, & 12th Grade students should be reviewing the College Now application to apply for the STEM or College Credit Program. The Deadline for applications is DECEMBER 7th, 2018.  CLICK HERE for the application. 
 
Action Item #7: (All Students): Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, November 29, at 5:30 - 8:00 PM and Friday, November 30, at 1:00 - 3:30 PM. All families are expected to make appointments on our online appointment system. We will send information on how to make appointments by next week. Please be sure to make appointment early. 
 
Action Item #8 (All Students): Please see the AFSE Club List, Tutoring Schedule, and Student Opportunities linked below. Some clubs are still finalizing their meeting schedule and will be shared as soon as they are completed.
