Patrick Higgins

Patrick Higgins is a lifelong educator with a passion for expanding inquiry-driven instruction beyond his own classroom. After obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs, Mr. Higgins first realized his love for the profession while teaching English in South Korea. Upon returning, he was accepted into the New York City Teaching Collaborative, through which he obtained his Master’s degree in Education from St. John’s University.
 
Mr. Higgins served for seven years as a social studies teacher at Bronx Haven High School, during which time he gained experience in building relationships with students and colleagues alike. In his capacity as Model Teacher, Mr. Higgins led professional development and coached new teachers to reach their full potential. He most recently served as Model Teacher and head of the social studies department at Health, Arts, Robotics and Technology High School in Cambria Heights, Queens.
 
A proponent of civics education and student activism, Mr. Higgins has guided students through programs such as Generation Citizen and Yale Model Congress. He is excited to bring his experience in culturally relevant instruction, student government and peer mentoring to his new role as Assistant Principal.
