Mrs. Billings's Bio
Toni Ann Billings has been a dedicated educator at the Academy for Software Engineering (AFSE) for 12 years, inspiring students to think critically about history and its connection to the world today. Throughout her tenure, she has taught Global History, U.S. History, Economics, and Participation in Government, and currently teaches AP U.S. History (APUSH)—a subject she has long been passionate about since taking the course herself in high school.
Toni Ann earned her Bachelor’s Degree in History from SUNY Stony Brook in 2009 and began her teaching career in the Sachem Central School District as a substitute teacher, where she developed strategies to make history engaging and relevant. In 2014, she joined AFSE and later earned her Master’s Degree in Literacy (K–12), equipping her with tools to help students master reading and writing in historical contexts.
She is currently pursuing a second Master’s Degree in School and District Leadership, reflecting her commitment to educational excellence and future leadership roles. Toni Ann’s teaching philosophy centers on connecting historical content to current events, fostering civic engagement, and cultivating a lifelong love of learning.
