In September Ms. Towne and a few of her students were invited by Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights / Discovery Education to take part in the filming of a Virtual Field Trip that will be live on www.speaktruthtopowerinschool.com December 10th! We had the incredible chance to meet and talk with Defenders: Kerry Kennedy, Kailash Satyarthi (2014 Nobel Peace Prize), and Van Jones as well as up and coming Defenders: Naomi Wadler and Matt Post! In the evening we were also able to attend the Global Citizens award ceremony at Riverside Church honoring Naomi, Ibtihaj Muhammad, and Harlem's own fashion icon Dapper Dan! We also heard speeches from Jones, Martin Luther King III, and Grandsons of Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela. It was an incredible day!
