Action Item #3 (All Students): Guidance on Semester Grades: We expect that all students to fulfill the requirements for each course by the end of the semester. Students who do not meet the requirements by the end of the semester, and require additional time, must meet requirements for a course extension reflected on the transcript as an "NC". As a guideline, students who earn a final grade in JumpRope of 1 - 1.3, or a JumpRope grade of INC AND the student has earned a numeric grade (1, 2, 3 or 4) for at least 50% of the minimum mastery attempts for the semester, have the opportunity to complete assessments to demonstrate their mastery of coursework in the two semester following the semester for which the student earned “NC” on their transcript.
Action Item #4 (All Students): German Language Course Offering: The Goethe-Institut New York, which is just one block away from AFSE, is offering scholarships for free German course for young learners (12-17 years old) for the winter trimester, which will run from January 14 to March 24. A1.1, Saturdays, 1:30 to 4:45 PM. Parent must complete form for student to apply.

SAT prep will be on Wednesday and Thursdays (3:30 - 5:30) and two Saturdays (9:00 - 1:00) on 2/9 and 3/9.  The program will be offered for free; however, students will be expected to pay a $60 refundable deposit that will be given back based on number of sessions attended.  Students who attend all sessions will receive back the full deposit.  An online survey will be shared with students in January to sign up and reserve a spot in this program. Students who cannot pay the deposit can request a waiver.  Priority will be given to 11th grade.  Spots that are not assumed by 11th grade will be offered first to 10th and then 9th.
Action Item #6 (11th Grade): Junior College Trip: An interest form will be going out to juniors the week of 1/2 to confirm attendance on overnight college trip to Syracuse and Albany on 3/12 - 3/13.  A $20 refundable deposit will reserve a spot for each student.
Action Item #7 (All Students): Please see the AFSE Club List, Tutoring Schedule, and Student Opportunities linked below. Some clubs are still finalizing their meeting schedule and will be shared as soon as they are completed.
Students are expected to arrive to school in time to be in class by 9:00 AM.  Students who arrive after 9:00 AM are considered late.  It is essential that students arrive on time to maximize learning opportunities and succeed in class. If you need support, please contact the school.
If you have not  received a phone call from Ms. Cameron, please be sure to update your contact information on the emergency contact card that students will receive next week.
