Mr. Jamal's Bio

Born in Bangladesh, Mr. Jamal started his education in Brooklyn at Abraham Lincoln High School. He then earned a B.S. in Biology from Cornell University. After graduating from college, he joined the NYC Teaching Fellows program for his Masters in Secondary Biology Education at Pace University. He went on to earn his second Masters from Queens College in School Leadership. Finally, he completed his Math for America Master Teacher Fellowship for four years and is involved with the MfA Community.

 

Mr. Jamal started his career at the High School for Enterprise, Business and Technology in Bushwick, Brooklyn. He taught AP Environmental Science, Regents Living Environment and Regents Earth Science during the last twelve years before joining AFSE. He was also the GatewayMSI STEM Coordinator and the Data Specialist for the school before taking on this role at AFSE.

 

His pedagogical interest lies in empowering students to improve their STEM literacy. He strongly believes in real-world applications of science. Whenever he is traveling, he takes photos and looks for examples of how science can explain interesting phenomena around the world. Whenever not in the classroom, Mr. Jamal is obsessed with Technology, Photography and Travels, which is why he started the EduSciTech blog (www.pjamal.com) where he posts useful resources he discovers through his explorations!
