Computer Science

The Academy for Software Engineering participates in the Computer Science for All initiative (CS4All). According to the Department of Education, "Computer Science for All (CS4All) will ensure all NYC public school students learn computer science, with an emphasis on female, black, and Latino students. Through our work, students will be better prepared to utilize computer science during their K-12 experience and after graduation."
 
At AFSE, we truly believe in removing barriers to equitable opportunities. By participating in the CS4All initiative we are exposing all of our scholars to computer science concepts and skills that will better equip them with the competitive, cutting edge, transferrable skills they will need to be happy and successful after high school.
 
9th Grade - All 9th graders will take:
  • Robotics & Game Design
  • Programming Python
 
10th Grade - Students will indicate interest in AP Computer Science or Cybersecurity courses
  • Foundations of Cybersecurity
 
11th Grade - Courses depend on pathway
  • AP Computer Science Principles
  • Digital Forensics
 
12th Grade
  • AP Computer Science A
  • Cybersecurity Practicum
